In the Rostov region, traffic police officers detained two convicts who escaped from the Volgograd colony. In the FSIN reportedthat on the night of December 23-24, Georgy Vyazikov and Dmitry Kornei fled. Both men were convicted of theft.

The traffic police detained the fugitives on December 25 at about 8 am on the 167th km of the Kotelnikovo – Peschanokopskoye highway. In addition to the convicts, there was a 1993 man in the Renault car. He was driving. The police officers, together with representatives of the Federal Penitentiary Service, delivered the convicts to the police department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Salsk district.

Vyazovikov was convicted in Krasnodar in October 2020 for theft and involvement of a minor in the commission of a crime and sentenced to two years in prison with serving a sentence in a penal colony. Korney was convicted in June 2021 in Armavir for theft and sentenced to three and a half years in prison in a colony-settlement.

On the fact of the escape, a criminal case was initiated under Part 2 of Art. 313 of the Criminal Code.
