Directed by Dome Karukoski Lion’s heart (2013) tells the story of a neo-Nazi who falls in love with a woman with a dark-skinned son.

The film is written by Aleksi Bardy, who also writes films, for example Wastes, Restless and The Forbidden fruit.

One week before the premiere, it was decided to raise the age limit for the Lionheart from 12 to 16 years.

The Media Education and Picture Program Center ended up with a higher age limit because the film features several realistic scenes in which a child and his or her family are at risk of violence.

– I do not see that the child is directly threatened with violence. Sounds theoretical. The Lionheart is more of a survival story of how to live with violence in a realistic environment, screenwriter Bardy comments to Iltalehti.

The protagonist of the story is the unemployed and penniless Teppo Salminen (Peter Franzén). He meets a waitress named Sari in a café (Laura Birn) and they fall in love.

The conflict between the fresh couple is caused by Sari’s dark-skinned son Rhamadhani (Yusufa Sidibeh). Teppo leads a local neo-Nazi group with the motto “for a white Finland”.

With paternal instincts and new family patterns, Teppo begins to soften and get rid of his prejudices. However, he does not dare to introduce new loved ones to his group of friends and his least angry little brother, Har, who Jasper Pääkkönen plays.

Pääkkönen was awarded the Jussi Award for Best Male of the Year. The actor was seen in a similar role as a far-right hard-faced man in 2018 as well.

It was directed by Spike Lee Blackkklansmanfilm in which Pääkkönen played an active in the local branch of the Kuado Klanx Klan in Colorado.
