The last night that this phenomenon could really be admired was during the night of 21 to 22 June 2019.
Noctilucent clouds
If that’s the case again this year, you don’t want to miss it. And to view these silvery clouds, you don’t even have to stay up very late. They are best seen between 11 p.m. and midnight. Also between 3.30 and 4.30 in the morning by the way, so if you are very fanatic, you can try again.
Precise timing
These times are no coincidence: it concerns one hour after sunset and one hour before sunrise. These are the moments when the sun shines diagonally against the horizon from the far north and the clouds become visible.
Weather conditions
But to see the noctilucent clouds, the clouds have to be at the right height at just the right time. In addition, it must be a clear night. If there is too much cloud, the phenomenon will pass your nose (and your eyes). So keep a close eye on the weather forecast.
shooting
Do you want to photograph noctilucent clouds? That is quite a challenge, but with the right settings you will get there. Go for a shutter speed of no more than 5 seconds and choose a higher ISO value (400 to 1600). This is the best way to capture the clouds in most cases.
It is not very sunny at the moment. Luckily, you can make it look like you’ve been out in the sun with this makeup trick:
