In the biopic trailer, Daniel Radcliffe plays Weird Al Yankovic

He turned Michael Jackson’s “Beat It” into “Eat It” and turned Green Day’s “American Idiot” into “Canadian Idiot”: Weird Al Yankovic parodied the most famous songs of their time and thus became a star of pop culture himself. From the beginning of November a biopic will be shown, which takes on the life story of the eccentric satirist.

A liaison with Madonna is probably the focus

The 62-year-old is played by Daniel Radcliffe. The most important utensils: curly wig, mustache, aviator glasses and his beloved accordion. Evan Rachel Wood plays Madonna in fingerless gloves and a tulle skirt. One of her big hits also got through his mischievous editing – and so he rewrote “Like A Virgin” to “Like A Surgeon”.

She herself once gave the impulse to the parody, wondering when the song was at its peak when Yankovic would tease him. This, who otherwise did not accept any suggestions from outside, made an exception for the “Queen of Pop”. Apparently, the two connected more than just an artistic relationship. Judging by the trailer, their affair and the subject of addiction are central themes of the film.

Al Yankovic has no doubts: this will be Radcliffe’s most important role

Weird Al Yankovic co-wrote the screenplay. Of casting Daniel Radcliffe, he joked, “I have no doubt that this is the role that future generations will remember him for.” Directed by Eric Appel (“Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” “Silicon Valley”) . From the beginning of November, the biopic can be seen on the streaming provider “The Roku Channel”.
