Kylian Mbappé (15th, 56th) scored twice for PSG in the 2-1 (1-0) win, Mikel Merino scored the goal for San Sebastian (90th). PSG had previously won the first leg at home 2-0. This makes Paris the second team, alongside FC Bayern, to be confirmed as participants in the quarter-finals. The next round will be drawn on March 14th.
Mbappé’s individual class decides
Paris quickly proved to be the better team. Ousmane Dembélé sent Mbappé into the penalty area on the left for the opening goal. There, Mbappé San Sebastian’s Igor Zubeldía literally danced and hit the far corner with his right (15th).
After the break, Mbappé once again showed his individual class: He came into the penalty area on the left and pointed a right-footed shot into the far corner, but then hit the short corner (56th). San San Sebastian still had a great chance, but Beñat Turrientes was denied by Gianluigi Donnarumma from close range (79′). Merino finally scored the consolation goal (90th).
Paris meets Reims, Real Sociedad has to go to Granada
Paris now continues in Ligue 1 on Sunday (1 p.m.) with a home game against ninth-placed Stade Reims. Real Sociedad plays in La Liga on Saturday (6.30 p.m.) against penultimate FC Granada
