In pictures: how Wervershoof experienced the Olympic success of ice queen Irene Schouten

For two weeks, Wervershoof was dominated by one woman: speed skater Irene Schouten. And she lived up to her favorite role. She returned from the Beijing Olympics with three golds and one bronze. Today she is being honored.

And that tribute starts with a landing scene on the Raadhuisplein in Wervershoof. Then Irene Schouten gets in the car for a tour through the village. It ends at the Dars sports hall, where the skating champion is put in the spotlight.

Part of the ceremony can be seen live from 16.40 on NH Nieuws and WEEFF. Both on both TV channels and on both websites and Facebook pages.
