Foreign Affairs confirms that Jean-Jacques Wondo has been released from the prison of the Congolese capital Kinshasa. The Belgian military expert is on its way to Belgium and will arrive on Wednesday afternoon. “We are relieved that he can be reunited with his family,” it says in a press release. Wondo was stuck for almost nine months. In May he was arrested in the aftermath of an alleged coup and sentenced to the death penalty.
