Una photographic exhibition to celebrate a program started in the academic year 2021-22, and today considered one of the flagships of the university: it is “Athletically, the story of Dual Career”and will be open until January 31, 2026 at the exhibition gallery of the Agorà building of the University of Milan-bicocca. The protagonists are 16 of the approximately 80 students who have to date have taken the path of Dual Career, photographed in the University with “The Ferri del trade”.
Explains Lucia Visconti Parisio, delegate of university sport: “The Dual Career project wants to support the double path of our students who are also high -level athletes. Often it happens that the age of maximum sporting flowering coincides with the university years, and many students are forced to leave their studies because they cannot reconcile the commitments. Instead, we help them carry them on both ».
The Milan-Bicocca program focuses on two aspects: “Flexibility and accompaniment”continues the teacher. “Flexibility means that the student-athlete has the opportunity to follow registered lessons, since it cannot always be in presence, and can fix the exam appeals in dates agreed with prof. For example, to one of our economy student, Riccardo Sbertoli, captain of Trentino Volley and now engaged in Manila in the volleyball World Cup, we allowed to move an exam ».

Also important is the accompaniment “by a tutor who is a professional psychologist and helps the students organize the path, is close in moments of despair and keeps them anchored to university life”. So far already about eighty students have followed the path of Dual Career: A hundred are nominated every year, and about twenty come in. «We select the highest profiles, of those who participate in international competitions. We also favor gender equality and try to promote all sports. We also have Paralympic athletes, such as Francesco Cavallotto of the national football national team. “
In Milan Bicocca La Dual Career gives space to all sports
Silvia Venturini, 24, Valtellinese, world champion in charge of rafting, managed to reconcile study and sports career thanks to Dual Career. “At high school I did canoeing, but the profs looked at me sidewaysI was pressed by the commitments and had to stop. In 2021 I was proposed to rafting, which is a team sport, we are 4 girls, and I managed to reconcile everything on Bicocca. I made the 2023 world championships while I was taking the three -year degree. Last year they also arrived at the Filippo Mandelli competition for student-athletes. “
Francesco Cavallotto, 24 years old, blind, has already obtained the master’s degree in medical biotechnology with 110 and honors in Milan- Bicistra, and is close to the master’s degree in industrial biotechnology. Silvia’s autumn will be very demanding: “In October I will take my master’s degree in Science and Technologies for the Environment and the Territory, and a few days later I will leave for the World Cup in Argentina. Meanwhile, I have already won the doctorate in Earth Sciences in Rome three; I will study the erosion of soils connected to the dissolution of the glaciers. I hope to continue going on in both fields, as I have done so far. Here in Milan-Bicocca I had a tutor, a psychologist who helped me understand the priorities of life, and it was next to me in making weighted choices. It was not easy to stay at high levels, because in rafting competitiveness is strong, but I succeeded. So far I have trained on the ADDA. With the doctorate I know that I will have to go to the Alps to dig, so I hope I can continue to train ».
