The editors of Dagblad van het Noorden received a sad message on Friday: former colleague Gerrit Fokkema, a centipede in journalism, unexpectedly passed away last week at the age of 66. He took early retirement two years ago, with an impressive 35 years of service at the Nieuwsblad, later Dagblad van het Noorden.
