Now the date is set: The Kotti guard will be opened in February, Interior Senator Iris Spranger (61) announced to the BZ.

However, the SPD politician calls for active support from the green-governed district: “The commitment is not exactly what I would like it to be. The district should talk to the housing association about a better lighting concept, hire social workers and make progress with youth work.”

The new police station will move into the first floor of the Kreuzberg center, the renovations are ongoing (costs up to 3.75 million euros). It’s about more security at the notorious drug hub.

“It is very important to me that the police are not always looked at from one side. It’s also about more cleanliness, public toilets. The district should care more,” says Spranger.

And: “We have seven crime-ridden locations in Berlin, five of which are in Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg alone. I don’t have to say more about it.”
