It is a familiar scene in Cannes: tourists wait for hours along the crowd barriers for a glimpse of a star on the red carpet. But that’s probably why they’re missing the most interesting part of the film festival, AP photographers John Locher and Andreea Alexandru probably thought.
That’s why they focused their cameras not only on the world premieres and celebrities, but also on the spectacle surrounding them. On the Croisette, influencers in glittering dresses and floral cloaks pose for unknown photographers and friends, men in tuxedos drink beer from sandwich shops and visitors practice their own red carpet moment in front of an image of paparazzi.
