In Art Nouveau and with a bar: Falco’s private villa opens for tours

There will be public tours for fans of Falco’s house in Gars in Lower Austria from mid-May.

Falco’s former home opens to visitors. Fans of the musician can visit the building from mid-May.

Falco bought the property in Gars am Kamp, Lower Austria, in 1987. The villa with a large garden has three floors and a total of 4,000 square meters. It is decorated in Art Nouveau style. “The villa is still in its original condition, as if Hans had left it yesterday,” said Ronald Seunig from the Falco Private Foundation the “district newspapers”. He was friends with the musician, whose real name was Johann Hölzel and called Hans, during his lifetime. Falco died in 1998. After the death of Falco’s mother in 2014, the artist’s estate passed to Seunig’s foundation, whose non-profit status is controversial.

Tours of Falco’s home planned

Guided tours of the Falco Villa will be offered to visitors. The concept is still being worked on and renovation work is also underway. It is already known that the inventory is secured by alarm systems and that there is a bar that invites you to linger. According to Gars Mayor Martin Falk, there were frequent requests to make the property accessible to the public. “I am confident that the offer will be very well received,” Falk was quoted as saying by Austrian newspapers. “Falco is still not forgotten.”
