Jonas and I am in a family of five, we eat almost only colorless foods.
– Everything comes from a bag or a jar, Oona describes the family’s cooking style.
Neither of the parents can be interested in cooking, but they want to get their stomach full to the table as quickly as possible and with as little effort as possible. We go to the grocery store week after week with the same, monotonous shopping list.
Joonas and Oona have invited Kape Aihine to help them with their everyday cooking. Four
Kape gets to witness one of the family’s standard meals: meatballs and mashed potatoes. Joonas and Oona cover themselves with meatballs from a can. Joonas’ first-born daughter Sinja doesn’t care about them, so meatballs are heated from the refrigerator for the children.
One thing is made from start to finish in the family kitchen: mashed potatoes.
– Puree is bad, Oona reasons.
The potato is the only vegetable that can be found in the family’s refrigerator. Sometimes you also grab cucumber from a shopping trip, but it is not part of the basic list. Instead, the fridge is filled with meatpacks and microburgers.

The family’s diet is colorless and of low quality. Four
Joonas admits that he has already had time to miss vegetables. She hasn’t really cooked since moving away from home at 18.
– We’ve eaten so much food that it doesn’t taste like anything anymore, Joonas admits.
Joonas and Oona are horrified by the idea that cooking itself would take a lot of time and effort. In Kape’s teachings, they admit that it doesn’t have to be that way.
