(toskanews) – Sumptuous, elegant, full of tinsel and golden decorations: they are the imperial carriages exhibited for over 100 years in museum in the park of Schönbrunn Palace in Vienna. Dozens of means of transport used by the Habsburg rulers, which testify to the rank and social status of their owners.
At the Imperial Carriage Museum there are all types and sizes: from the highlight, the so-called “imperial carriage”presumably built around 1735/40 for Emperor Charles VI, to the hearse which was used for the funeral of Emperor Franz Joseph and Empress Elizabeth. Then there are the smaller gala carriages, children’s prams, vehicles used for sport and leisure or for travel.
