An absolutely magical attraction for all “Willy Wonka” fans was supposed to take place in Glasgow recently. An event in the Scottish city promoted an immersive experience that sought to bring the world of the chocolate factory to life. But then the event turned out to be something different than expected and was a great disappointment for parents and their children who had traveled there. They found themselves in a sparsely decorated storage room that, according to the audience, was more reminiscent of a drug lab than a candy paradise.
Loveless plastic decoration instead of a detailed chocolate world
Under the title “Willy’s Chocolate Experience”, a company announced an exhibition for February 24th to 25th in which “chocolate dreams become reality”. On your website They attracted visitors with an enchanted garden, an “Imagination Lab”, a “Twilight Tunnel” and generally lots of entertainment options. It said online: “Experience captivating live performances with charming characters singing original catchy tunes. Marvel at extraordinary props, oversized lollipops and a paradise of sweet treats. This event guarantees an immersive and delicious entertainment experience suitable for children ages 3 and up.”
However, when fans bought a ticket for around 37 euros and arrived at the warehouse, it did not live up to what was promised to them on any level. Instead of the advertised “giant candies, glowing flowers, mysterious-looking sculptures and magical surprises,” they found themselves in “a sparsely decorated department store with a few plastic props, a small bouncy castle and some backdrops pinned to the walls,” as visitors told “The Guardian” reported.
Any images used to promote the experience were created by artificial intelligence that suggested a very high quality attraction that looked exactly like Wonka’s world.
According to some X articles, employees were only informed about their tasks the day before. However, what they ultimately had to do on site was not explained in more detail.

So it’s no wonder that the guests at the event were shocked and disappointed when they found the disaster that had unfolded. For parents who wanted to make their offspring happy, it was a matter of drying tears and comforting them instead.
Not everyone present wanted to put up with this fraud and quickly called the Glasgow police to report on the “horror candy world” and demand their money back. Some described the event as a kind of drug lab.
