During a check in Hoogersmilde, illegal prostitution, a hemp nursery and hard drugs were discovered in two holiday homes last night. The municipality of Midden-Drenthe carried out the audit together with the police and the Dutch Labor Inspectorate (NLA) after reports on suspicious situations.

In one of the houses, the police found evidence that the suspicions of illegal prostitution confirmed. A hemp farm and hard drugs were found in another home. Mayor Jan Zwiers immediately closed the house.

The control was part of a broader approach to undermining crime. The municipality calls on residents to report suspicious situations, such as many different visitors, fast stopping cars or strikingly furnished homes.
