Ignazio La Russa and gays: politicians against the LGBTQ community

“TOi would accept with regret the news of a gay son. A straight father would like his son to be like him.” To respond in this way to Francesca Fagnani who made her debut in prime time last night with her broadcast Beastsand the President of the Senate Ignazio La Russa immediately taken up by all the opposition, starting with Alessandro Zan, promoter of the bill against homotransphobia, which was never approved.

Alessandra Amoroso, hosted by Mara Venier, takes sides: «We need to approve the Zan law»

Gays and community lgbtqthe worst year 2022

«The second office of the State – says Zan – it cannot and must not pronounce itself in such a discriminating and offensive way. Unfortunately, the Italian right has not come to terms with the past, it is still linked to a post-fascist culture that sees rights as smoke screens».

The sad report of the European Parliament

Not only Malan thinks so, however, since second the recent Ilga Europe annual report for the Social Affairs Committee of the European Parliament, land anti-LGBTQ statements directed like boulders on the community have been so many to be returned 2022 “the worst year” of the last decade for rainbow people.

Too many politicians’ sentences against gays and queers

And, taking Italy specifically, to make the already not exhilarating climate ever more tense, large numbers of the words of the politicians.

Phrases pronounced lightly by the same, but which instead were considered by European researchers rather heavy, as capable of increasing the legitimacy of discriminatory sentences against the Lgbtq community.

From the censorship of Peppa Pig to the fight against the theory of gender

It’s no surprise: after all, not a day goes by that some government or institutional representative finds a way to offend the rainbow community in any way.

Just think of the continuous attacks in many parliamentary speeches against the alleged «gender theory». Or when Federico Mollicone of Brothers of Italy asked to censor an episode of Peppa Pig because a couple of two mothers appeared. But there is also much worse. For example, Fdi’s Senate chief Lucio Malan when he said that «homosexuality is an abomination as written in the Bible». And the examples may not end.

Lgbtq, the community not loved by the right

The report that analyzes all European countries, as far as Italy is concerned, is particularly concentrated in the period after the establishment of the Meloni government whose party, the Brothers of Italy, is among those that has most opposed there Zan law «that would protect LGBT people from hate crimes» e claimed the abolition of sex education in schools and inclusive books for children.

But it’s not just words demonstrating hatred for Lbtq people. Unfortunately there is no shortage of news stories in which people belonging to the rainbow community have been victims of brutal bullying up to heinous crimes.
