Only in the opening phase of the party, Samsonova was able to keep up somewhat. Swiatek broke the service of the Russian in the sixth game, after which she could easily play the first set: 6-2.

In the second set, Swiatek seemed to be heading for a simple victory, but the Russian managed to break her and returned to 3-2.

It seemed like her last convulsion, because immediately afterwards she lost her own storage and brought Swiatek again over a comfortable lead: 4-2. Yet Samsonova did not give up. She broke back immediately, won her own service, after which the score was the same again: 4-4. Eventually she had to bow her head: 7-5

Swiatek already won a grand slam tournament five times in her career, but on Wimbledon she has never even reached the final.
