There is one big agreement between André Hazes Jr. and Jorik Scholten: they have both lost a lot of relevance. But where André does occur-even if it is in smaller halls-the career Jorik really slipped after the mistreatment of his ex-girlfriend Jaimie Vaes. He has now released a docuserie at a streamer, but he also does not release much.

‘Teeth out of his mouth’

Jorik has trouble getting his life as a rapper back on track, he says no brake in the docu. “Actually, I had to reinvent Jorik. But as a result I lost the focus on Lil Kleine, and I have to reinvent it now. That is sometimes confronting, if you notice that it is no longer what it was like.”

And that while Jorik was once at the top of the Dutch rap world. How does André look at his musical colleague? “That boy torn two notes of 500 euros on camera. Money for which others should work hard. If it were my son, I would turn the teeth out of his mouth,” he says in New Revu.

Normal

Yet André understands what Jorik had in mind. “If I look at it as a professional, I see that such behavior is simply part of his success. Just as good as ‘being normal’ is part of my success as a folk singer.”

The gentlemen each serve their own audience. “Children who go to rappers shows and listen to albums, which means they have one hundred million streams, really don’t find me fascinating, but everything they do is completely crazy.”

Crazy

Does André think that Jorik is still relevant? “I can personally enjoy such a lil. Apart from the fact that he is crazy, he is someone about which people will say in forty years: we were there.”

He concludes: “His name will be remembered.”
