One in three Flemish people is afraid that one day no more water will come out of the tap, according to a survey by the NGO ‘Join for Water’. Could that really happen if it stays as dry as now? And when then? “It is certainly possible,” says Professor Waterbeheer Patrick Willems (KU Leuven). “But luckily the chance is small and it is very difficult to make estimates about the precise time.”
