While Hatay and Gaziantep were heavily damaged in the Kahramanmaraş-centered earthquake felt in 11 provinces, the big teams of the two cities decided to withdraw from the league.
The TFF announced that the Super League would continue with 17 teams, Hatayspor and Gaziantep FK would not be relegated, and that both teams would be forfeited in all their matches during the league’s ongoing season.
Beşiktaş Objected!
Beşiktaş demanded that all matches of teams withdrawn from the league be considered invalid after the TFF’s decision.
