Another counterattack almost makes it 3-0 for the home team. Maximilian Kammerer crosses from the right face-off circle before Juhani Tyrväinen hits the target with the ladle shortly before the goal. Florian Bugl takes a step off the line and is able to fend off the ball with his right leg pad.

Goal for Kölner Haie, 2-0 by Nate Schnarr
Straubing takes the game, but Cologne scores to make it 2-0! A shot from the guests lands in the right corner, so that Tanner Kero counterattacks on the left side. Shortly before the face-off circle, he delays once before making the deliberate pass to the inside. This is perfectly measured so that Nate Schnarr can bring the disc directly towards the goal and convert it into the top right corner.

19:56
The longer the first third lasts, the better the Straubing Tigers get. The Kölner Haie were pushed further and further back into their own zone, so that they were rarely able to get forward in the last few minutes.
15.
7:55 p.m
Tim Brunnhuber is once again at the center of the action. After a long pass forward from his own zone, he gets the disc on the blade before moving to the baseline. He looks for a shot from an acute angle from the left side, but Felix Brückmann parries with his helmet!

19:53
Tim Brunnhuber tries from the blue line, but his shot flies just past Felix Brückmann’s box to the right.
13.
19:52
The Rhinelanders initially lose the puck in the offensive zone, but Kari Jalonen’s men don’t let up and get the ball back. The pass is immediately made into the left faceoff circle, where Dominik Bokk brings the disc directly towards the goal. The puck ends up on the outside net of the short corner.
12.
7:50 p.m
The shooting statistics clearly speak for the Straubing Tigers at 10:4, but the guests are still missing a dangerous situation in front of Felix Brückmann’s goal.
11.
7:49 p.m
Cologne does it very cleverly and often keeps the disc in the opponent’s zone, but without trying to finish.
10.
7:48 p.m
The game is very fast-paced and both teams are fighting on equal terms, even if the better offensive actions so far belong to the home team.
9.
7:48 p.m
From the right face-off circle there is a sharp pass from Patrick Russell to Nate Schnarr, but before the Canadian can convert at the left post, Justin Scott flies in and decisively deflects the ball so that the score is not 2-0.

19:43
However, Lower Bavaria also repeatedly shows offensive actions, so Mario Zimmermann tests Felix Brückmann in the Haie goal. However, he is completely in tune with the action and fishes the disc out of the air.
7.
19:42
The hosts first look for a shot from the blue line in the person of Oliwer Kaski before Nate Schnarr also takes a shot from distance. However, Florian Bugl was able to direct both shots next to his box with his stick hand.
6.
19:41
Marco Münzenberger moves half-left towards the goal. Shortly in front of Florian Bugl he wants to cross the puck, but a defender intervenes and then clarifies the situation.
5.
7:40 p.m
The Tigers seem to have recovered from the early shock and are now increasingly looking for a way forward. The Rhinelanders recognize this and then keep the game equipment within their own ranks so that the guests’ offensive urge is quickly stopped.
4.
7:39 p.m
Straubing comes down the left side before Alex Green passes the ball to Filip Varejcka in the middle. He arrives at a lot of speed, but he can’t take the disc with him. Instead, he rushes into Felix Brückmann, causing both of them to move the goal, causing a short interruption. However, things continue for both of them.
3.
7:37 p.m
The home team continues to apply pressure and restrict the guests in their zone.
2.
19:34

Goal for Kölner Haie, 1-0 by Maximilian Kammerer
In the direct countermovement there is the first goal of the game! Louis-Marc Aubry runs after Florian Bugl’s goal with the disc on the trowel before placing the game device in the slot. Maximilian Kammerer is completely free there and finishes flat at the bottom left.
2.
19:34
The first chance belongs to the guests! Danjo Leonhardt is played from the left side of the blue line in the right face-off circle, so he doesn’t hesitate for long and shoots straight away. His shot goes just past the near corner.

19:33
Then it can start in the Lanxess Arena! The home team wears red while the guests wear white.

Game start
7:20 p.m
The game between the Kölner Haien and the Straubing Tigers is a duel that is played on both sides of the ice. While the hosts have the second strongest offensive with 127 goals scored, the guests are still in fourth place with 119 goals. But both teams also know how to impress on defense. The Tigers have only conceded 89 goals, making them the third-best defensive performance in the league. The Rhinelanders, represented by Janne Juvonen, Tobias Ancicka and Felix Brückmann, have only had to get the target out of the net once. So the duel between the two teams with the strongest form promises to be a real blast.
19:13
After the Straubing Tigers were anything but happy from mid-November to mid-December, earning just three points out of a possible 21 points, the Lower Bavarians were able to turn things around again. Since then there have been seven wins, one against the Augsburg Panthers in a penalty shootout, and only one defeat. This means that today’s guests don’t have to hide behind the current league leaders. With the run of the last three weeks, Craig Woodcroft’s team has been able to work its way up to fifth place and, with 68 points, is only one point behind second-placed Adler Mannheim.
7:09 p.m
The Cologne Sharks are currently riding a real wave of euphoria. Kari Jalonen’s team has won 13 of the last 14 games, with three games going into overtime. The defeat against EHC Red Bull Munich in mid-December was also only decided after regular playing time. In general, today’s home team have always left the ice with at least one point in the last eight weeks. On November 2nd there was the last regular bankruptcy for the Rhinelanders. In this case, too, it was against the Munich team. Unsurprisingly, no team has been more successful than the Kölner Haie, who are now greetings from the top of the table.
7:01 p.m
Hello and welcome to the 35th matchday of the DEL. At the beginning of the year, the Kölner Haie host the Straubing Tigers in the Lanxess Arena for their top game. The kickoff will take place at 7:30 p.m.!
