Ice hockey, DEL: Iserlohn with a resounding victory when Coach Poss returns

Iserlohn Roosters, bottom of the DEL table, celebrated a resounding victory when Greg Poss made his comeback on the boards. On the twelfth day of the German Ice Hockey League (DEL), the Roosters defeated the Bietigheim Steelers in a basement duel on Tuesday (October 18th, 2022) 7-1 (3-0, 2-1, 2-0).

The return of the former national coach Poss to the Seilersee was only announced on Monday. Fischtown Pinguins Bremerhaven closed the gap on points to leaders Red Bull Munich (25 each) with the 3-1 (1-0, 1-1, 1-0) against the Schwenninger Wild Wings, who have now been without a win for six games. The runner-up only receives the defending champion Eisbären Berlin, who got off to a rocky start to the season, in the top game on Wednesday and is able to pull away again.

Clear victories from Wolfsburg and Straubing

The Grizzlys Wolfsburg are also doing well, beating the Nuremberg Ice Tigers 5-1 (1-0, 1-0, 3-1) on Tuesday.

The Löwen Frankfurt led for a long time at ERC Ingolstadt, but the DEL newcomer ultimately lost 2:3 (0:0, 1:0, 1:3). The Bavarians climbed to fourth place, Wolfsburg is fifth. The Straubing Tigers got the upper hand against the Augsburg Panthers in their own hall with 5:2 (2:1, 2:1, 1:0).

Isrelohn sets the course early on

After a little more than eleven minutes, Iserlohn was leading 3-0, the fourth win of the season was practically fixed. Chris Brown and Kris Foucault both scored twice. Coach Poss had succeeded Kurt Kleinendorst, the American had worked for the club from 1997 to 2003 and celebrated promotion to the DEL in 2000.
