The German ice hockey women preserved their chance of defending their title in the Germany Cup with a win against Slovakia. National coach Jeff MacLeod’s team won the second tournament game 3:2 (1:2, 1:0, 0:0) after extra time on Friday (November 7th, 2025).

In front of around 1,825 spectators, Emily Nix from Frölunda HC (6th minute), Tabea Botthof (33rd) from the Mad Dogs Mannheim and Nicola Hadraschek Eisenschmid (62nd) scored the German goals.

Saturday against Hungary

Germany will play against Hungary on Saturday (2:45 p.m.) for tournament victory. The selection of the German Ice Hockey Association requires a win after regular playing time.

The German women showed a better performance against Slovakia than in the 3-2 penalty shootout win against France on Wednesday. However, Germany did not make enough of its long clear superiority. “That makes it quite stressful as a coach“said national coach MacLeod.
