Zlatan Ibrahimović regrets that he never played for FC Bayern. “Playing for a club like Bayern Munich certainly wouldn’t have been bad, just because of the club’s history and players. For me, FC Bayern is one of the five biggest clubs in the world,” said the 43-year-old Swede in an interview with “Sports Illustrated”.
Ibrahimović ended his successful football career at AC Milan last year. Among other things, he won the Europa League with Manchester United and the Club World Cup with FC Barcelona. He also won national championships in the Netherlands, Italy, Spain and France. Ibrahimović played the most competitive games at club level for Paris Saint-Germain (180). For the Swedish national team he scored 62 goals in 122 international matches – number one in the all-time top scorer ranking.
FC Bayern “would definitely have been nice” for Ibrahimović
“They couldn’t have afforded me,” Ibrahimović joked about FC Bayern, but added seriously: “But no, to be honest, there was never an opportunity to move there. It would definitely have been nice – but fate had other plans for me.” Six of his compatriots have been under contract in the Munich club’s history.
In general, the Swede Ibrahimović is a fan of German football. This is “outstanding” and he loves the stadiums “because they are always sold out”. And further: “I really admire German football and the national team.”
