“I was 12 and I slept among needles and shit.” In the HLN podcast ‘Young Convicted’ Nick (37) tells his story. As a child of drug addict parents, he spent his youth in institutions and on the streets. At the age of eighteen he ended up in prison. A hopeless case, it seemed. Until he picked himself up again. Today he works as an educator in a closed youth institution with young people who, just like him then, are in danger of taking the wrong turn. “At one point my file was so heavy that they had to wheel it in with a cart.”
