When, as a result of my colorful life, I ended up in the AMC with acute pancreatitis in 1987 (pancreatitis is the fancy word for inflammation of the pancreas), at a certain moment ‘the professor himself’ appeared at my bedside with the grim message: “You must never drink again.”
