Christmas on TV and at the cinema: 10 titles not to be missed

At the end of the first season, Gianna was looking for a partner to spend Christmas Eve with her family; now we find her engaged for a year, while everyone around her becomes single again (including her parents, who announce their separation after a long marriage).

Soon Gianna’s (Pilar Fogliati) relationship with her doctor colleague also fails and the thirty-year-old nurse protagonist of I hate Christmas he finds himself starting from scratch, insistently looking for a soul mate to share the holidays with.

The second season of this pleasant comedy by Lux Vide is now available on Netflix: the pattern is always the same, that of a millennial struggling with complicated romantic relationshipsclumsy attempts to recreate stability and head shots that ruin everything at the best of times.

Set in Chioggia (the alleys and decorated canals become added protagonists of the series), I hate Christmas is the remake of a Norwegian series that has the merit of making you smile about the imperfections and stumbles of feelings and about how love always hides a daring and playful side.

With inserts that break the fourth wall, Fogliati’s interpretation is the most successful, together with simple but never banal writing. In this second season, Filippo (Pierpaolo Spollon) makes her entrance, in the role of a neighbor who will bring a landslide into Gianna’s life.

For those who want to smile at the torments of love by giving themselves a few moments of lightheartedness.
