‘I don’t think this is cross-border’

Merel Ek does not intend to report to one of John de Mol’s infamous counters now that she has been confronted with explicit images in Today Inside. “I laugh about it!”

Two days ago, Merel Ek was in the studio of Today Inside to go through the results of the elections. She stood in front of a TV screen where all the counts came in. She was surprised twice while swiping through with very explicit images, namely of a man with a gigantic trunk and of a couple making love.

Spicy joke

The incident was discussed yesterday in the talk show HLF8. Presenter Sam Hagens asks her: “Merel, are you still alive?”

Merel: “Yes. Kind of, yes.”

Sam: “Do you still need to press the screens again? Because you were Merel Eksitpoll yesterday.”

Then the images of the spicy VI joke are shown. Sam: “Funny this, Ronald?”

Ronald Molendijk: “Yes, of course.”

Cross-border

Sam to Merel: “You got quite a few reactions to that, didn’t you, from people who don’t think it’s quite okay or something?”

Merel: “Yes, people apparently think it crosses borders.”

Sam: “Did you agree?”

Merel: “No, not at all. I had to laugh a lot about it. I knew something was going to happen, because that screen is simply done from the direction. I was pressing it, but everyone saw that.”

Sam: “You think she’s pressing a touch screen there, but it’s just a TV. You press a TV and then someone sits above it and presses a button! So it’s all fake!”
