Jürgen Klopp is the star guest at the “Ball des Sports” in Frankfurt. With the chic outfit, however, it cheats a little.
Jürgen Klopp is known for his casual style – but the coach had to make an exception for the “Ball of Sports”. Before the event in the Frankfurter Festhalle was a shopping tour for him.
“I don’t enjoy cleaning myself out for an evening. I had to buy the clothes. It’s not that bad. But I had no idea how to put on cuff button and so on and immediately,” said Klopp on the red carpet. Despite the unusual wardrobe – suit and fly – everything went well in the end.
However, he was not there for the event, Klopp emphasized: “But I would not have come if it were not so important.” Deutsche Sporthilfe is “one of the most important organizations we have”. He wanted to support their purpose and help “that there will be even more partners next year”. The “Ball des Sports” took place for the 54th time and primarily serves to collect funds for athletes who are supported by Deutsche Sporthilfe.
“We always pretend that all professional athletes get rich. This happens in exactly two sports in Germany: if you get under the top ten in tennis and when you play football. Not in all other sports,” said Klopp. Therefore, you have to help these athletes. In his opinion, a better support for sport is also a profit for the entire country: “The better we support our athletes, the better we are than land because it is also a sign.”
