One party leader after another has apologized in recent days for his support of the Becker motion. What they recently thought was a good idea is suddenly a ‘polarizing’ (Mirjam Bikker, CU) and even racist proposal in which ‘migrants are used as scapegoats’ (Jimmy Dijk, SP). Expressions of regret in videos and statements have been used to correct the ‘big mistake’. The public penance points to panic and a hysterical cancel culture.
