Interview with founder De Dijk at the beginning of the anniversary tour, which also turns out to be the last

The anniversary tour of De Dijk, around its fortieth anniversary, immediately turns out to be the last. In December, if the text Can the lights be turned off gets a final load, it’s over for the Dutch-speaking band. Last Christmas, this newspaper spoke with Huub van der Lubbe, founder, singer and lyricist of De Dijk, in which he looked back on four decades of ‘rock ‘n’ roll and blues. “You have to keep it fun as a band and we have succeeded in that,” he said on that occasion. “Life with De Dijk, however wonderful: I know it,” says 69-year-old Van der Lubbe now. “It no longer offers the surprise why I once went into music. And I don’t feel like repeating myself.”
