At the Hurricane Festival there is a risk of thunderstorms, heavy rain and squalls – at the same time temperatures rise to 33 degrees. What festival visitors need to know now.
At the Hurricane Festival, 78,000 festival-goers will storm into the town of Scheeßel between Hamburg and Bremen from June 18th. The basses thunder and the light shows flash to bands like Kraftklub, Twenty One Pilots, Florence + The Machine and Halsey. But the weather could also live up to the name “hurricane” this year – with stormy winds and storms. All information at a glance here.
Severe weather warning for the northwest
The German Weather Service is issuing a weather warning for the northwest of the republic: Thursday night, Friday and Saturday night there may be strong thunderstorms with heavy rain, hail and squalls. It is not yet clear whether this will specifically affect the town of Scheeßel and the Hurricane Festival. The local weather forecast for Scheeßel so far only calls for light rain on Friday night. Maybe the campers on the Hurricane will be lucky after all. In any case, festival visitors should prepare for rain and storms, anchor their tents well and pack a rain poncho.
Rain or heat?
To be safe, your luggage should have a variety of items: in addition to rainproof clothing, sunscreen should not be missing. On Friday afternoon it can get up to 33 degrees and there will be blazing sunshine. The temperatures are also climbing on Sunday afternoon. That means drinking a lot – and ideally not just beer, but also enough water so that you don’t tip over in the mosh pit. You should also treat yourself to a break from the shade regularly. Because it’s hard to celebrate with heat stroke.
Heat, storms – the Hurricane gets the full charge. However, the organizers are prepared with detailed security concepts. Concerts have already had to be paused and canceled in very drastic weather conditions: in 2025, an impending storm led to show interruptions.
Anticipation on social media
The weather forecasts hardly dampen the mood: euphoric festival fans are already starting to buy snacks and planning which concert they want to be on which stage for, and are sharing this on TikTok.
By the way, festival tickets are still available: weekend passes cost 219 euros, a camping pass costs an additional 69 euros.
