Hundreds of Ukrainians in office next to Maastricht airport

Approximately 525 refugees from Ukraine are received in an office building next to Maastricht Aachen Airport. The first people will be able to move there in July and the building will be completely ready for use in about six months. The intention is that the Ukrainians can stay in the building for two years, but this could be longer, reports the municipality of Beek, which includes the airport.

The reception will be in an old KPN office, not far from the A2 and the airport runway. “We expect that the residents will have little trouble with the highway and the airport. We are still working out how we can facilitate people to get to facilities,” according to the municipality. According to Beek, one large location can be arranged better than many small reception places.
