More and more municipalities are succeeding in offering shelters for people from Ukraine. Dozens of war refugees will be housed in Eindhoven, Hilvarenbeek and Roosendaal from Friday. In Breda, it was announced earlier this week, almost four hundred Ukrainians can go to the former Dome Prison from Monday.

Oosterhout has room for 134 victims of the war, but it is not yet clear whether and when this will be used. Furthermore, in Best, among other places, hard work is being done to be able to accommodate Ukrainians quickly.

These shelters are known so far:

– In Roosendaal a branch of the care organization Groenhuysen, De Brink, is being prepared. The building has been vacant since late last year. It would be demolished because there are plans for a new housing facility for the elderly in Roosendaal. De Brink has room for 55 families with an average of three people. Another branch of Groenhuysen, Moerweide, will also be set up for temporary occupancy. Alderman René van Ginderen: “As a municipality, we have a lot of shelter to organize in the coming period and Groenhuysen was immediately ready to solve this with us.”

– Eighty people from Ukraine are welcome at Landgoed de Nieuwe Erf from Friday Diessen† This complex consists of meeting and party rooms. It is also regularly used for people who want to spend their holidays there. The municipality Hilvarenbeek, which Diessen falls under, is still in talks about a second place with twenty extra reception places. Mayor Evert Weys: “In recent days, we have worked hard to prepare for the arrival of this group of people. From Friday they can count on a bed, a meal, a place where they can wash and space to relax.”

– Within two weeks, the municipality can Oosterhout have the first fifty childcare places available for families and singles. Two floors that are vacant in the Amphia Hospital on Pasteurlaan are used for this purpose. From the beginning of April, the municipality itself will host, because then a wing of the town hall has been turned into a shelter complete with living rooms and sanitary facilities. The Brothers of the Paulus Abbey also want to contribute. Within two months, ten Ukrainian families can be accommodated. If the Security Region Central and West Brabant If the municipality accepts the offer, the current residents and neighbors of the relevant locations will be informed.

– The municipality Best has started setting up De Schakel as a temporary emergency shelter. Toilet and shower rooms must be installed in the school building and classrooms must be furnished with furniture. It is not known when the first people from Ukraine will report to Best. Nor is it clear how many refugees the municipality is counting on. At the shelter she also works together with the Woonstichting ‘thuis.

– All refugees from Ukraine who go to Eindhoven From Friday, they will first report to Microlab at Strijp-S in Eindhoven, it was announced on Thursday. They are then registered here and can stay there for a few days. Microlab is a building full of office spaces where on Thursday they worked hard to receive the first refugees.

– The municipality Breda has chosen De Koepel, because this complex is quickly available and habitable. It also has plenty of facilities such as showers and toilets. From this Thursday, Sports Center De Scharen is already being used for the emergency reception of refugees from Ukraine. Refugees are given shelter here for a few days before going to De Koepel or another reception center in the region.

– 140 people, that’s how much the municipality wants Country of Cuijk going places. She is looking at housing options at a number of larger locations, where people can also stay longer. The municipality is also busy arranging matters for guests from Eastern Europe in areas such as education, health, safety and work and income. The municipality is working with Sociom, an organization for social work, Refugee Work and educational organisations.
