Hundreds of pre-vocational secondary education students control Metropole Orchestra during Game in Concert

At least 246 pre-vocational secondary education students visited the Broadcasting Music Center in Hilversum today. During the event called Game in Concert, young people could control the Metropole Orchestra in teams via an app on their phone. “I think it’s quite special, very nice to be here. And all this via your phone,” says one of the students.

The concert is intended to bring young people into contact with music. “By tempting young people with gaming, we start with something that appeals to young people anyway,” says Caroline Grasmeijer, organizer of the event. “It is of course very good to bring young people into contact with music. And how nice is it that you can do that through gaming and music?”

And according to Grasmeijer, that is not the only thing. “Everyone loves music. It can cheer you up. There are so many proven reasons why making music is actually very good for yourself. For what you feel, but also for your brain. And that connects with each other and it is super important that you connect with yourself, others and the world around you. Music can do that and that is why the students are here today.”
