Hundreds of people gathered for the band’s holiday in LA

On Wednesday, December 13th, hundreds of people gathered to celebrate Depeche Mode Day in Los Angeles with the band. In addition to city councilor Monica Rodriguez, the synth rock duo consisting of Dave Gahan and Martin Gore also gave a speech and thanked them for the honor.

“We feel very, very honored”

On the occasion of “Depeche Mode Day”, Dave Gahan and Martin Gore appeared in person at the holiday event. Gore explained Depeche Mode’s “special relationship with Los Angeles.” The band not only had their first station concert in the city, but they also see this, alongside New York, as the British band’s “career springboard” in America. Accordingly, both would feel very honored.

Another memory was an autograph session in the record store “Wherehouse” in 1990, where they wanted to promote their new album “Violator,” Gore continued. According to reports, between 17,000 and 20,000 people showed up in front of the store, which only had space for 150 people. Because of the resulting security problems, the LAPD ended the event at the time: “We’re sorry we didn’t sign the plates. It helped our career a lot because we made national headlines,” Gore joked. Gahan also finally thanked him for the honor from the Depeche Mode holiday.

In addition to the duo, City Councilwoman Monica Rodriguez also highlighted the importance of Depeche Mode to Los Angeles: “They met us where we were with their lyrics and musical style and helped hold us together when the world sometimes fell apart. “

At the beginning of 2024, Depeche Mode will come to Germany as part of their “Memento Mori” tour and play a total of eight concerts in Berlin, Hamburg, Munich and Cologne.
