It was 1 degree above zero, there was a fresh wind and occasionally it snowed for a while. But that did not stop hundreds of Normal fans from queuing for hours yesterday for the presale of Muziekweekend Pesse. The farmer’s rock band will perform there again for the first time in ten years at the end of May.
At the beginning of the evening, the line runs from the entrance to the De Wenning meeting center in Pesse, across the packed parking lot to the end of the street. A group of men have been standing in front of De Wenning’s door since the beginning of the afternoon. “It is once in a lifetime. I have been a fan for 44 years,” says one fan enthusiastically. And waiting is wise, because tickets are not available online.
They keep the atmosphere good with a drink to keep them warm. Most people in the long line have a big smile on their face. “We need maps,” says a man from Gramsbergen. “We read that there is a concert here, so you should be there.”
A woman in a blue coat is also happy that Normal is returning. “I know all the songs by heart.” According to her, the fact that the band has already announced their last concert several times does not change anything. “Even when they are eighty, they will continue. And then I will continue to go.”
