After an investigation into the transport, storage and sale of heavy fireworks, the police discovered the 15-year-old boy. Ten other suspects were also arrested. They live in Enkhuizen, Obdam, Andijk, Amstelhoek, Bilthoven and Beverwijk. Fireworks were also found with them.
Used in explosions
The police point out that these types of fireworks can cause serious injuries and major property damage. Fireworks are also often used in explosions, attacks and assaults on emergency workers.
In the past, illegal fireworks were mainly searched for around New Year’s Eve, but nowadays there is a ‘continuous effort, aimed at both end users and the underlying trade networks’, according to the police.
The eleven suspects have been interrogated and can await the further course of their case at home for the time being.
