The police found a large quantity of very heavy illegal fireworks at a house on Braakstraat in Oss on Wednesday afternoon. The fireworks were stored under a carport in the middle of a residential area. The police speak of a ‘huge find’.
The police received a report of fireworks nuisance. But once officers arrived at Braakstraat, they found a very large amount of fireworks. A 24-year-old man from Oss has been arrested.
Under the carport, officers found hundreds of cobras and dozens of shells. These are fireworks from the prohibited category F4, which are intended exclusively for professional use. “Colleagues were not only amazed by the quantity and weight of the fireworks, but also by the way they were stored,” the police said.
‘Damage would have been incalculable’
According to the police, the situation could have had major consequences. “If the fireworks had exploded prematurely, the damage would have been incalculable and local residents would have been in serious danger.”
A specialized company has been called in to safely dispose of the fireworks. The fireworks will be destroyed.
