Humberto Tan used the term ‘Black Pete’ in his talk show RTL Tonight, which immediately resulted in a reprimand from studio guest Ahmed Aboutaleb. “That’s not what it’s called, is it?”
RTL’s hypocritical complaint about the hate reactions of Expedition Robinson viewers was also an item in the Humberto Tan show last night RTL Tonight. The channel is under fire because it is evident that it provokes these hate reactions itself. “I thought: but some things also happen in the game itself,” the talk show host notes.

Albert Verlinde then jumped into the breach for the RTL leadership, in which his good friend Peter van der Vorst still sits. “Yes, but that is no reason to say at home: ‘We’re going to go way over that!’”
TV viewers have simply become wild people, Albert believes. “In the past, if you had complaints about a program, you wanted to write a letter if you were angry, but you first had to find paper and a pen. Now you just start swearing immediately! It’s a game, we say in Brabant!”

Humberto then misspokes in an unfortunate manner. “But it’s broader than this, right? Last week we also had Black Pete being threatened with death.”
Studio guest Ahmed Aboutaleb is shocked, because the term Zwarte Piet has now pretty much been phased out and the child’s friend is only called Piet. “It wasn’t Black Pete, was it?”
Head Pete
Humberto immediately corrects himself. “The main one!”
Albert: “The head sweeper! But you can say it!”
Humberto, that last decade spent a year and a half with security because of his anti-Black Pete position, concludes laughing: “Sorry, sorry, sorry. That I made that mistake!”
