Hugh Jackman returns as Wolverine in Deadpool 3

Actually, the Wolverine character was killed years ago. Now the two actors Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds announced that they will return in “Deadpool 3”. As usual, the role is played by Jackman.

A comeback for Wolverine

Reynolds posted a video on Twitter on Sept. 27, in which he not only announced the Marvel movie’s release date (September 6, 2024), but also revealed that Jackman will be reprising his role as Wolverine. He wrote: “It’s hard for me to keep my mouth shut.”

Jackman last impersonated Wolverine in 2017 when he starred in the film “Logan – The Wolverine”. However, the actor has only appeared on the big screen once with Ryan Reynolds, in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, which was released in 2009. While Jackman played Wolverine, Reynolds slipped into the role of Deadpool.

Wolverine becomes part of the MCU

The fact that Wolverine is starring in an MCU film is the next step in Marvel’s ever-expanding film and series universe. At the same time, Jackman’s return means that Deadpool 3 will also be Wolverine’s introduction to the world of Thor and Thanos.

How exactly Deadpool and Wolverine fit into the MCU remains to be seen until next year. Meanwhile, director Shawn Levy revealed to The Hollywood Reporter what direction the blockbuster will be taking: “We want to roll everything up and do a big, fat bromance sandwich movie because the world wants the ‘Hugh Jackman meets Ryan Reynolds’- See movie. I don’t know exactly what it’s going to look like yet, but I know I have to direct it,” Levy said.

Most recently, Hugh Jackman starred in the film “The Son” directed by Florian Zeller. The work premiered at the Venice International Film Festival on September 7th and is scheduled for release on November 11th this year. Jackman stars in the play as Peter – a father worried about his depressed son Nicholas.
