Heavy clouds of smoke could be seen around Stadshart Amstelveen around 5 p.m. These were caused by a car fire in a parking garage. Bus traffic to and from the adjacent bus station was halted due to smoke development.
The fire is now under control, a spokesman for the fire department said. Three cars parked in the parking garage were damaged and the fire appears to have started in one of those cars.
Two cars are completely burnt out. The third sustained damage. The spokesperson has not yet said anything about the cause of the fire. No one was injured.
