HSV: Robert Glatzel extends again – lucrative offers rejected

“A very important signal”

The same procedure as last year: According to the “Hamburg evening paper“ Decided against a change and for an extension at HSV. Accordingly, the striker’s contract, which runs until 2025, will be extended by two years – on slightly higher terms. The exit clause of 1.5 million euros, which was originally valid until June 15, is no longer effective.

Update, 1:03 p.m.: The HSV officially confirmed the report a short time later. “Although we unfortunately missed our big goal in the last two years, I had by far the happiest time of my career so far. I’ve never felt so comfortable at a club. Team, club, fans and everything around it fits together perfectly for me, so I’m very happy to be able to stay longer at HSV and to tackle the goals together,” said Glatzel, explaining his decision.

Sport director Jonas Boldt added: “Bobby is a very important player for our team, not only because of the many goals he has scored for HSV in the past two years and will continue to score in the future. It is therefore a very important signal that he has decided to stay in Hamburg and at HSV and also to extend his contract again. This shows that he too is convinced of our path, which we are now continuing together.”

The second-best scorer of the past second division season with 19 goals is said to have received lucrative inquiries from the Bundesliga and abroad. The “Bild” previously reported on two concrete offers from the German House of Lords. Glatzel was recently associated with SV Werder Bremen in particular, where the still unclear future of national striker Niclas Füllkrug (30) and Marvin Ducksch (29) could open up a gap in the storm center. With Dawid Kownacki (26; Fortuna Düsseldorf), the green-whites have already signed another option for the attack.

Glatzel has been with HSV since the summer of 2021. After 22 goals in his first season, the striker had received a lucrative offer from newly promoted FC Schalke 04 that was ready to be signed, but declined at the last second and extended the contract. Now he should help again to ensure that Hamburg’s promotion back to the Bundesliga succeeds at the sixth attempt.

In addition to Glatzel: HSV goalkeeper Mickel also extended

The extension with substitute goalkeeper Tom Mickel was previously announced. The 34-year-old, who has been wearing the HSV jersey again since 2015, signed for another season. “I’m still keen to prove myself in sports every day and to make progress together here. I’m happy that I can continue on this path after my twelfth year,” said Mickel.
