HSV: Noah Katterbach suffers cruciate ligament rupture – return to 1. FC Köln?

Cologne loan

Hamburger SV has to do without Noah Katterbach in the end of the season and in the fight for promotion. The 22-year-old left-back tore a cruciate ligament in his left knee during training on Thursday and will be out for months. Katterbach will be operated on in the coming days.

HSV loaned the U21 national player from 1. FC Köln in January. Katterbach had recently fought for a regular place in the “Red Pants”, in a total of eleven games he contributed two assists. It is questionable whether HSV will exercise the purchase option for Katterbach in the summer due to the long-term absence.

“The injury hits the club and the player equally hard,” said HSV. “Katterbach had previously integrated into HSV in an exemplary manner both on and off the pitch. (…) He also knew right away how to identify with the club and its goals, and set a good example as an absolute team player. HSV wishes Noah Katterbach a lot of strength and a successful recovery. We stand by your side, Noah!”
