Hamburger SV has to look for a new president in the summer for aging media reports. According to information from “Bild”, “Abendblatt” and “Sky”, incumbent Marcell Jansen no longer wants to compete at the general meeting in June. The ex-international announced this internally. At first there was no statement from the HSV.
Jansen has been President of the second division with an interruption in 2021 since January 2019. The 39-year-old has not been undisputed for some time. In 2023 he survived a request for no confidence at the general meeting and in January 2024 he put his post on the Supervisory Board in order to be able to “exercise” his role as President.
It is still unclear who could succeed Jansen. The current Vice President Michael Papenfuß is considered a candidate. The 70-year-old had already taken over Jansen’s supervisory board mandate in HSV AG after he left the control committee after long quarrels.
