In the top game of the second division Saturday, everything went smoothly for the HSV at the guest appearance on Schalke. But then the fans suddenly caused trouble.

The second division game between FC Schalke 04 and Hamburger SV had to be interrupted in the second half. In the 60th minute of the game, the Hamburg fans in the guest block of the Veltins-Arena suddenly ignited numerous rockets that whiten through the air with a loud howling.

When some of the neon rockets also went on the surrounding grandstands and on the lawn, Harms Osmers’ judge interrupted the game and sent both teams to the sidelines.

Some Hamburg players desperately asked their fans with wild arms to refrain from shooting down the rockets. The actors on the square were probably afraid of a demolition of the game. This in turn would not have been at all accommodated, because the “red pants” led the red card 2-1 against decimated Schalke, in which captain Kenan Karaman had already seen the red card in the third minute after a violent foul – the fastest red card in the history of German professional football.

This is not the only reason why Sky commentator Martin Groß and expert Simon Terodde scolded the Hamburg fans’ campaign. Among other things, the rocket show described the rocket show as “absolute nonsense”, Terodde was speechless due to the danger from the rockets: “I lack the words,” he said.

After a few minutes, the HSV fans had fired their rockets-among the loud whistles of the other spectators-and the game could be continued in the 66th minute. Only the smoke of the fireworks floated over the square for a long time.
