HSV extends with defensive all-rounder Rohr: “Development is far from over”

Missed injured for a long time

Hamburger SV has retained defensive all-rounder Maximilian Rohr at the club. As the “Rothosen” announced on Wednesday, the 26-year-old signed a new two-year contract until 2024. Rohr initially switched from Carl Zeiss Jena to the HSV second team in 2020 before moving up to the pros a year later. Since then he has only played seven games – also due to a long-term muscle injury that put him out of action for a good four months.

In the last game before the international break, he made his comeback in a 1-1 draw at Fortuna Düsseldorf. “Maxi showed at the beginning of the season that he can be an important part of our team with his versatility and physique. We’re happy to have him in our ranks in the future and don’t see his sporting development over yet,” said sports director Michael Mutzel.

Rohr added: “I’m happy to continue to be a part of HSV. I’ve felt very comfortable here since I arrived and took the next step with my first second division games. My big goal is to build on that after the injury break and to help the team as best we can.”
