Hamburger SV won the top game in the 2nd Bundesliga. The North Germans are initially moving to first place in the table.

Top scorer Davie Selke gave Hamburger SV three important points in the promotion race of the 2nd Bundesliga. The 30-year-old brought his team on Friday evening with a double pack at 3-0 (1-0) against pursuers Kaiserslautern on the winning road (42nd and 65th minute). Fabio Baldé (78th) set the final point in a one -sided game.

Due to the victory, HSV is at least one of the table until Sunday. The 1. FC Köln could then pass the “red pants” again with a success against Fortuna Düsseldorf. Kaiserslautern remains third for the time being.

In the parallel game, Stefan Leitl won a 0-0 in his first game as a coach of Hertha BSC against 1. FC Nürnberg. This stopped the negative run of the Berliners who had previously lost the past four league games. Hertha moves up to twelve, Nuremberg pushes to eighth place.

The sick HSV coach Merlin Polzin was represented by his assistant Loic Favé. The assistant coach saw his HSV determined the game. The big spectacle failed to materialize in the first half. This was also due to the north Germans, who did not reward their ball ownerships with clear chances.

Above all, the striking Selke tried, but was initially unsuccessful. That changed shortly before the break whistle. Selke accepted the flank of William Mikelbrencis by breast and pushed the ball into the goal. In return, Erik Wekesser missed the huge chance to equalize.

Despite a removal hit in the second round, Selke could not be stopped and completed a beautiful previous pass combination to 2: 0. It was the 16th goal of the best HSV goal shooter. Baldé increased for the clearly superior hosts. A renewed offside hit by Ransford-Yeboah Königsdörffer (87th) was withdrawn after the video referee intervened.

41,752 spectators experienced a game of event and opportunities. There was almost nothing to see from Nuremberg’s offensive. Hertha ran cheerfully, but found hardly any gaps in the defense. Both teams defended concentrated. Fabian Reeses Unplaced volley from just under ten meters (28th) was the greatest chance for the hosts and the only notable goal scene of the first half.

After the break, Hertha pushed for the lead. Reeses shot from an acute angle (59.) only hit the outdoor network. When Nuremberg’s Berkay Yilmaz played the ball in his own penalty area, the home side in vain demanded a penalty. Because Nuremberg still had no ideas on the offensive, the draw remained. Hertha has to wait for the first home win since October.
