A lot of movement shortly before the transfer deadline at Hamburger SV: The Bundesliga newcomer has ended the loan of home-grown Otto Stange (18) to the second division club SV Elversberg early, in return midfielder Immanuel Pherai (24) is moving to SVE on loan until the end of the season.

Central defender Aboubaka Soumahoro (20) is also moving to France on loan to AS Saint-Étienne, while Philip Otele comes from FC Basel.

“We are in good communication with our colleagues from Elversberg and have found a sensible solution for all sides in this case,” said HSV sports director Claus Costa. “Manu came to us asking for a sporting change that would give him more playing time. In addition, with Otto we are bringing back a player who will give us variability and breadth in the offensive.”

The Hamburg native Stange signed a contract extension that was agreed upon in the summer of 2025. Pherai, Suriname’s national player, has played 57 competitive games for the Rothosen so far, scoring six goals and preparing nine more. Defensive talent Soumahoro should gain match practice in his native France.

HSV also announced the signing of Otele. The Nigerian is coming from FC Basel on loan until the end of the season. “Philip is a true winger,” said Costa.
